Price list
Price list
A price list is a named set of prices applied to a particular customer or group of customers, so the same product can sell at different prices to different buyers.
One product, many prices
The design rule that matters: a price list overrides a price, it does not create a second product. One product carries one recipe, one cost and one allergen declaration.
Duplicating a product per customer forks all of that. Six months later the copies have different ingredients, and the allergen data on one is the version nobody updated.
Fixed prices or a percentage
A list can hold an explicit price per product or a percentage off retail.
The percentage is quick to set up and hides a problem: it moves every price when retail moves, and it takes no notice of which products carry thin margins. A flat 30% off applied across a range strips a product at a 35% gross margin down to almost nothing while barely touching a high-margin line. Check margin line by line on a list, never on the average.
The rules a list needs alongside it
A list travels with the rest of the terms: the minimum order quantity, the lead time and the net terms. It also needs a precedence rule for a customer who qualifies for two lists at once, decided deliberately rather than by whichever the system finds first.
